Beatrice Marie Cicala, age 90, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 24, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Avondale, PA. She was the wife of the late Joseph Paul Cicala, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John William Anderson and the late Beatrice Marie (Cadden) Anderson.
Bea, known as “Billy,” to her friends and family, grew up in Norristown, PA and attended Norristown High School. She pursued a career in secretarial and office management and excelled at the job, moving up to become an executive secretary for Lee’s Carpets, Conrail Enterprise, CCH CompuTax, and RT Environmental Services Inc; and worked as a paralegal for Hall Law Offices of West Chester.
Bea had a love of music and singing, history, restoration, horses, cars, and antiques. She could be found, any given Saturday, lugging her children with a friend or two to an auction. She delighted in the great bidding war, but more so when she caught a fellow bidder sleeping at the paddle and snatched up a bargain. She turned her hobby into a business when the family moved from Perkiomenville to her beloved Chester County and the forever house-project home at the historic Rising Sun Inn. She loved sharing her passion and knowledge of all things antique and Chester County. She never missed a Chester County Day house tour on that first Saturday in October!
She will be remembered for her love of fashion, lipsticks, nail polish, travel with family, hosting large Thanksgiving dinners, beautifully decorating her home for Christmas, her sense of style, her love of singing, and her love of sharing all these things with her children and grandchildren.
She will be missed for her ability to see an amazing piece of history waiting to be restored, while others saw rust and dust. For her drive and determination to see her dreams become reality. For her smile, laughter, quick wit, and love. For her sassiness when things didn’t go her way and for her amazing hugs and appreciation when they worked out in her favor. For her amazing Cinco de Mayo birthdate, and her enjoyment of port wine and chocolate, and for always looking great in a snazzy outfit. We will miss her always having a lipstick in her pocket.
Beatrice is survived by her daughters, Beatrice Cicala and Kathleen Gregory (Bryan); and her grandchildren, Mae, Arwen, Hayden, Brody, and Logan. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Stankiewicz.
You are invited to visit with Beatrice’s family and friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Downingtown Country Club, 93 Country Club Drive, Downingtown, PA 19335.
