Charles Huebner passed away on March 16, 2026, at the home of his eldest daughter in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.

A longtime resident of Smithtown, New York, Charlie was born on April 24, 1935, in the Bronx, New York, to Martin and Catherine Huebner. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy and honorably served in the Korean War as a Petty Officer. Always known as a fixer and builder of things, he spent most of his career working at Grumman Aerospace collaborating on projects such as the F14 Tomcat, the E2 Hawkeye, the Apollo Lunar Module (which carried astronauts to the Moon's surface between 1969 and 1972), and the first space shuttle mission, STS-1, which was launched by NASA on April 12, 1981, using the orbitor, Columbia.

In his spare time and throughout retirement, you could often find Charlie enjoying the quiet of the morning golf course, especially the Bethpage Black Course as well as Sunken Meadow.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; his daughters, Denise, Janine, and Charleen; his son-in-law, Brandon; and his grandchildren, Sophie and Julian.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
