David Hall Scott, age 69, of West Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Born in Paget, Bermuda, he was the son of the late John Scott and the late Joyce (Keele) Scott. He was the husband of the late Susan (Brown) Scott, with whom he shared more than 40 years of marriage. He is survived by their two sons, Andrew Scott (Mariel) of Columbus, Ohio, and Matthew Scott (Jenn) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and his granddaughter, Olivia. David is also survived by his siblings, Karen Scott of Bermuda and Paul Scott (Laurie) of Toronto, Canada; and his niece and nephews, Mark, Sonia, Owen, and Liam.
Dave graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a bachelor’s degree and earned a master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dave also held multiple professional certificates from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He retired as Executive Vice-President from Willis North America, having worked there for 16 years. Over the course of his career, Dave held numerous executive positions within the utilities insurance industry in the US, the UK, and Bermuda.
Upon retirement, Dave was able to spend much of his time golfing and was a member of Inniscrone Golf Club and the Advent Golfers League. He also was a lifelong sailing enthusiast and spent many weekends cruising the Upper Chesapeake with friends and family. In his earlier years, he was an avid rugby enthusiast both as a player and as a referee.
David was a lifelong Rotarian and a member of the Longwood Rotary Club since 2002 where he enthusiastically gave back to the community through numerous service projects. He was also an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Kennett Square where he served as Rector’s Warden, assisting several pastors and staff throughout COVID and other church transitions.
While Dave enjoyed great success in his career, in the communities he served, and on the course, his greatest joy was his family. All who knew Dave saw his deep devotion to his family, the love he shared with Sue, and the pride he held for his sons.
