Dorothy Nix Schermacher

Dorothy Nix Schermacher, age 71, of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday August 8, 2025, at her home in Chadds Ford. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Ken Stephen Schermacher. Born in Fort Benning, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Nix and the late Dorothy Porterfield Nix.

Dorothy graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in pre-med. She was a trained respiratory therapist and worked a number of years in that field. Most of her career she was the office manager in a real estate management company.

She enjoyed all types of crafts, especially knitting, crocheting and flower design. She also established her own catering/baking business and was well known for her customized cake designs.

In addition to her husband Ken, she is survived by their son, Ryan Schermacher of Chadds Ford and one brother, John Nix and his wife, Jean of Las Vegas, NV.

Dorothy’s life celebration will be held privately in Spring of 2026. Contributions in her memory may be made to the ASPCA https://secure.aspca.org/donate .
