Jeanne Anne Land, of Fort Myers, Florida and Easton, Maryland, passed away on January 26, 2023, while traveling in Egypt. She was 80 years old. She passed while enjoying her favorite activity - traveling with her husband and best friend, Jerry.
Born in Oklahoma, she was a 1964 graduate of Goucher College in Baltimore. While at Goucher, she met Jerry who attended Johns Hopkins University, and they married in 1964.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Jerry, 4 children, 7 grandchildren, a sister and 2 nephews. Her eldest son, Neil, his wife, Tina and their children Colvin and Wyatt and Wyatt's wife Emma reside in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Brian, his wife, Melissa and their children, Trevor and Jason live in Woodside, California. Stephen, his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Emerson live in Arnold, Maryland. Renee Land Fulcher, her husband, Ryan and their children Landon and Brennan reside in Freehold, New Jersey. Jeanne is also survived by her only sibling, Barbara Paul of Nevada, and her nephews Chris Paul of New Jersey and Matt Carey of California. Jeanne and Barbara were the children of Ralph J. and Jeanne T. Richards.
Upon graduation, Jeanne taught primary school in Clifton Forge, Virginia then Alloway Township in New Jersey, before having children. Becoming a full-time mother, she was busy raising the 4 children. Later she became "Mimi" to her 7 grandchildren.
Jeanne enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and achieved the rank of Ruby Life Master.
A world traveler, Jeanne ventured to 117 countries on 6 continents.
There will not be a public service for Jeanne; instead, there will be a private family service. The family is planning a Celebration of Life in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions can be made to either the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland, or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis.
