Jerry Land, of Easton, Maryland, passed away on January 31, 2026. He was 85 years old. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Jerry graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1962 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. While at Johns Hopkins, he met his future wife Jeanne (neé Richards), who attended the nearby Goucher College. The two married in 1964 and settled in Wilmington, Delaware, and later moved to West Chester, Pennsylvania, before retiring to the Easton, Maryland, area.
Jerry is survived by 4 children, 7 grandchildren, his sister-in-law, and 2 nephews. His eldest son, Neil, his wife, Tina, and their older son, Colvin, reside in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and their younger son, Wyatt and his wife, Emma, live in Irvington, New York. Brian, his wife, Melissa, and their children, Trevor and Jason, live in Woodside, California. Stephen, his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Emerson, live in Arnold, Maryland. Renee Land Fulcher, her husband, Ryan, and their children, Landon and Brennan, reside in Freehold, New Jersey. Jerry is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Paul, of Nevada, and his nephews, Chris Paul of New Jersey and Matt Carey of California. Jerry was the only child of the late Norman Land and the late Eva (Stulman) Land. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanne.
For most of his career, Jerry worked for DuPont Chemical in production and shipping logistics. Jerry’s work took him on trips around the world. He and his wife, Jeanne, later continued this travel together, exploring over 120 countries on 6 continents. Even in his final years, Jerry continued to explore and enjoy world travel.
Known as “Grampy” to his seven grandchildren, Jerry loved spending time with friends and family in his retirement home on the shoreline of Plaindealing Creek, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. An avid boater and fisherman, Jerry spent many leisure hours on the bay and also worked extensively as a volunteer with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. He also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge with Jeanne and friends.
The family is planning a private Celebration of Life in the early summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions can be made to either the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland, cbmm.org or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis, Maryland. www.cbf.org
