M. Paulette Schaumann

M. Paulette Schaumann, age 87, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Saint Joseph's Villa in Flourtown, PA. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Schaumann, with whom she shared 35 years of wonderful marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late Vincent McConnell and the late Catherine Campbell McConnell.

Paulette graduated from Little Flower High School in Philadelphia in 1956, followed by her education and graduation as a medical technologist at nearby Chestnut Hill Hospital.

As a medical technologist, her work was in hematology and oncology, having been associated many years with prominent hematologists, Dr. Joseph Turchi and Dr. John Sprandio Sr.

She was an active member of Saint Simon and Jude Catholic Church in West Chester, PA.

Paulette had many interests, including a love of cooking, travel, and learning. She was an avid reader who always had a book in her hand, or on her Kindle. She was an active volunteer for a number of local non-profits, including More Than Books in West Chester. Until her passing, she was still studying French.

She will be remembered for her warmth, hospitality, and her caring personality. She also took great interest in her beautifully decorated home, plants, and flowers.

Paulette is survived by her step-son, Robert Schaumann and his wife, Diane, of Jaffrey, New Hampshire, and step-daughter, Jane Breisch and her husband, Robert, of Ft. Myers, Florida. Her sister, Catherine McConnell, SSJ, preceded her in death in November 2025.

As shared by her step-children, “Paulette was the most wonderful person to come into our father’s life.”

Paulette’s memorial Mass of Christian burial will begin with visitation at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA 19382 for those who wish to share remembrances, followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross cemetery in Yeadon.
