Matthew (Matt, Matti) John Puican, age 45, of Pomeroy, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 20, 2026. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of John and Joanne (Fiore) Puican.
Matt will be remembered for the loving care and daily support he showed his parents. He had great faith in Christ and attended Our Lady of Consolation Parish. As a final act of generosity, Matt was an organ donor through the Gift of Life Donor Program.
He will be missed for his generosity, selflessness, and pure ability to make everyone in the room smile with his welcoming personality. He defined the word Cool.
He was a graduate of Kennett High School, completed his electrical apprenticeship in 2012 and was employed as a master electrician by Haller Enterprises.
Matt filled his days with the people he loved, his guitar, fishing, kick ball, rock concerts and the Philadelphia Eagles. Among his family and friends he was known as “Meat Man” because of his passion for barbequing - steaks of all kinds were his specialty, and he was known to utilize a variety of seasonings, tools, and cooking methods. In addition to these pastimes, Matt loved a festive crab feast and particularly enjoyed spending time with his family in Avalon, New Jersey, for their annual vacation. The time spent in Avalon included some of his best memories with his beloved family and lifelong friends. He never missed a moment when his family would be celebrating an event or holiday, exemplifying what it meant to cherish family.
In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his brother, Chris Puican (Steph Brown); his niece and goddaughter, Gabriella Puican; his girlfriend, Jamie; and numerous extended family members.
