Michael David Moran, age 77, of West Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Riddle Hospital in Media, PA. He was the husband of Susan K. Johnstonbaugh Moran, with whom he shared almost 57 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Dr. John F. Moran Jr. and the late Virginia Mendenhall Moran.
He served our country in the Army reserves and was honorably discharged in 1974.
Michael, who liked to be called Mike, graduated from a technical college, earning his Master Automobile Technician certification. After working for 20 years as an auto tech, Mike purchased a Snap-On Tools franchise. He worked as a small-business owner, serving many other automotive technicians and local businesses for 24+ years in the New Castle and Elsmere, Delaware, areas.
Mike loved being outside. He enjoyed riding and building motorcycles, hunting, fishing, boating, and spending summer vacations at Raystown Lake with his family. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Oxford, PA, and a proud member of the Atglen Sportsmen’s Club in Parkesburg, PA since 2002.
As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, he will be remembered for his generosity, strong work ethic, and dependability.
In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by two daughters, Gwen Moran of Oxford and Michelle Gent of West Grove; three grandchildren, Megan, Tyler, and Jacob Gent; three sisters, Judith “Judy” Moran, Virginia “Jo” Lumley, and Kathryn “Katie” Moran; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John “Jay” Moran (Elizabeth “Betsie” Hibberd Moran) and two sisters, Margaret “Susie” Moran and Anita Moran.
You are invited to visit with Mike’s family and friends between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM on April 25, 2026, at Willowdale Chapel 675 Unionville Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348. His memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held privately at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill at a later date.
