Richard J. Zimmerman Sr.

Richard J Zimmerman Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully in his home on September 6, 2025. Richard was born in Wilmington, DE, to the late Harry J. and the late Loretta M. (McParlan) Zimmerman.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Jr., and infant Thomas, as well as his parents. He is survived by his sons, Andrew (Debbie) of Parma, OH; Richard Jr. (Renee) of Cochranville, PA; Michael of West Grove, PA; his sister Lisa Zimmerman of Pennsville, NJ; and seven grandchildren.

Richard grew up in Penns Grove and Pennsville, NJ. He graduated from St. James Catholic HS, in Carney's Point, NJ in 1967. He served in the National Guard and then received his associate degree from Salem Community College. He was hired as a process designer for DuPont Engineering for around 40 years, which included work on various plants until his retirement. He was one of the early designers at DuPont involved in developing and implementing the use of 3D design tools for plant facility design.

His hobbies included being a musician (guitar & vocalist), painting, gardening, and restoring his 1969 Caddy.
