Suzanne L. Grossmueller

Suzanne (Lambert) Grossmueller, age 84, of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, passed away on September 16, 2026, at Sunrise of Westtown in West Chester, PA. She was the spouse of the late Herbert Grossmueller, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage. Born in Zanesville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Lambert and the late Evelyn (Davidson) Lambert.

Suzanne married her first husband, Owen E. Obetz (a.k.a. Obie) in June 1962 and gave birth to their two sons, Scott and Jason. While married to Obie she lived in Indianapolis, IN; Ft. Wayne, IN; and eventually Flanders, NJ, where Obie was transferred for his job. Upon moving to Flanders, Suzanne became involved with the local Welcome Wagon Group and a couple of the Presbyterian churches in the area. Additionally, she supported and was a avid fan of her sons playing tennis, ice hockey, soccer, and fistball over the years.

After divorcing Obie, Suzanne married Herbert Grossmueller in July of 1987 and lived in Flanders and eventually Phillipsburg, NJ. While married to Herb she enjoyed her extended family and taking part in various activities within her neighborhood in Phillipsburg and around the area with friends and family.

Suzanne worked as a receptionist for over 20 years at Frank Anthony Hair Salon in Chester, New Jersey. It was a job for which she was well suited, and she loved using her Midwest charm in making the customers feel like friends and her co-workers feel like family.

In her spare time, Suzanne could often be found at the Swim and Sport Club in Flanders, New Jersey. She was an active member there and enjoyed playing tennis, summer dances, socializing by the pool, and many other recreational activities.

She will be remembered for having lots of friends, sharing her thoughts and being a great person to all who knew her.

She will be missed for her endless thoughtful suggestions, being an advocate for her sons, being a confidante for her granddaughters, and especially her conversations on Sunday or any day we had the chance to talk with her.

Suzanne is survived by her sons, Scott Obetz (Lisa) and Jason Obetz (Michelle); her grandchildren, Erin, Eileen, Meghan, Kaitlyn, and Kristen; her stepchildren, David Grossmueller and Judy Hancock; her brother-in-law Martin Grossmueller; and her nephew Eric Brenner. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Cindy Brenner.

A celebration of life for family and friends is being planned and will take place on November 7, 2026, in Flanders, NJ, with details to be shared by her sons in the coming weeks.
