Terry L. Taylor of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, following a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Terry was born on July 13, 1938, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Luther and Virena Taylor, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three of his children, Michael, Gregory, and Caroline, as well as his beloved brother and dear friend, Joe Taylor and his wife, Margaret.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Renee Walvis Taylor; his loving children, Jeannie and John Torrance, Natalie and William Vanover, and Daniel and Lauren Taylor; and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Russell, Ezra, Nico, and Owen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his brother-in-law, Peter Walvis, all of whom he loved deeply.
Terry was truly a citizen of the world. He had a lifelong passion for travel and explored many countries with great curiosity and respect for their history and culture. He loved people, and people loved him in return, forming lasting friendships across the globe.
He graduated from Oklahoma State University and later earned his MBA from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil. Terry enjoyed a long and successful career in engineering, working primarily for Dow Chemical, DuPont, and Stork Engineering. He served with pride as an engineering manager and project director, living and working in the United States, Chile, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Terry’s interests were wide-ranging and included deep-sea diving, boating, skiing, basketball, gardening, and many do-it-yourself projects at home. Above all, his favorite joy was spending time with family and friends, especially sharing a good meal together.
Terry often said that his greatest accomplishment was his family. He loved them deeply and always put family first. In his later years, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his grandchildren.
