Thomas J. Hannan, cherished husband, loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 20, 2025, at the age of 70.
Tom was born on December 9, 1954, in Philadelphia to James and Helen Hannan. Thomas faithfully lived out his vocation as husband, father, grandfather, and deacon, dedicating his life to God, his family, and his community. Ordained to the permanent diaconate in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, he served at Assumption BVM Parish in West Grove, PA, with dignity and reverence, proclaiming the Gospel, assisting at the altar, and ministering to those entrusted to his care. His 25 years of service reflected a deep commitment to faith, compassion, and charity. He was employed by Boeing in Philadelphia until his retirement. Thomas' favorite pastimes were cooking and painting, and he loved making people smile and laugh with his quick, witty humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Hannan (Dwyer), with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Together they raised four children, Megan Hardy (Nicholas), Kevin Hannan, Leah DiPersio (George), and Brighid Sydenstricker (Barry), who remain a testament to his love and devotion. Thomas was a proud Poppy of 9 grandchildren: Olivia, Lexi, Liam, Cody, Addie, Emery, Eli, Aria (preceded in death), Avery, and Arlo James (who will be born in November 2025). They brought him great joy and will carry forward his legacy of faith and kindness.
