Thomas L. "Oggie" Ogurcak, 87, of Kennett Square and most recently Oxford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Born on September 26, 1938, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Thomas graduated from Lebanon High School, where he excelled as a standout baseball player. He went on to earn a degree in History Education from Mansfield University, laying the groundwork for a lifelong commitment to teaching and mentoring.
For 34 years, Thomas taught 8th grade Social Studies at Kennett Middle School. His classroom was a place of inspiration where students were encouraged by his passion for history and his dedication to their growth. He also coached baseball at Kennett High School for many years, sharing his love of the game with young athletes. In 2018, Thomas was inducted into the Chester County Baseball Hall of Fame.
Each summer for 25 years, Thomas served as a head counselor at Camp Kennebec on Salmon Lake in Belgrade, Maine. His influence extended well beyond the school year as he helped shape the lives of countless campers through his leadership and enthusiasm.
Following his retirement from teaching, Thomas continued to serve the community for 16 years as a Clerk of Courts at the Chester County Courthouse.
A man of faith, Thomas was an active member of Unionville Presbyterian Church, where he served as both a volunteer and deacon. His generous spirit and commitment to service were evident in every aspect of his life.
Thomas was a devoted husband to Margaret Ogurcak; a loving father to Thomas Ogurcak and his wife, Lynne, Pamela Fout, and Jan D’Angelo and her husband, Dan; and a cherished Poppop to Jason and Katie Ogurcak and Gabriel, Nathan, and Allie D’Angelo. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bradley Fout and brothers, Steven Ogurcak and Robert Ogurcak.
He found joy in fishing, watching sports—especially the Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State, playing cards with loved ones, and spending time with his grandchildren.
