Esther Cavanaugh

January 25, 1932 — October 29, 2021

Coatesville

Esther Sommers Cavanaugh, age 89, died peacefully on October 29, 2021. Prior to her death, she cherished the many family-centric memories that included our predeceased father, Jack, who was her best friend and soulmate for over 55 years.

Esther was predeceased by her parents Esther and Winfield Sommers and her sister Earliene Conyers Day. She is survived by her 3 children Esther, Helen and John and their spouses Greg, Raymond and Karen. Her grandchildren, Catie, Ray, Esther, David, and their significant others all held a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in their personal talents and professional achievements.

Esther was always on the move, seeking to better herself and advocating for the lives of all those around her. While her accomplishments are too many to include here, she was most proud of obtaining an Accounting BA from Villanova University, working alongside our father at his architectural firm, serving in various capacities at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, and leading William H Saunders OES chapter as their past Matron. She loved animals, was a talented painter, vocalist and pianist, and enjoyed preparing elaborate meals for her family.

A private funeral will be held at Episcopal Church of the Advent in Kennett Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kennett Area Senior Center https://kennettseniorcenter.square.site/ in time for the holidays. Arrangements are by Matthew J. Grieco of Grieco Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. (484-734-8100). Condolences may be shared at www.griecofunerals.com
