Frank Bonomo

August 10, 1954 — March 24, 2022

West Grove, PA

Frank Anthony Bonomo, 67, Elder of the Chippewa Nation Bear Clan, White Earth Indian Reservation, Minnesota, passed into eternal life at home on March 24, 2022, with his wife Susan (Donohue) and their animals by his side. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was the son of the late Anthony James Bonomo and Ruby Ann Beaulieu. Frank graduated from Broadalbin-Perth High School, NY, earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY, and earned his Master of Social Work from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY.

During Frank's professional career, he worked at numerous mental health and substance abuse agencies, including Madison County Mental Health Department, Wampsville, NY and Ganigonhi:yoh Onondaga Nation Healing Center, Nedrow, NY. Frank also enjoyed teaching “Short Term Intervention” at the School of Social Work, Graduate Program, Syracuse University. Together, Frank and Susan started their own business, Bonomo, LCSW-R & Bonomo, LCSW-R, PC, in which they enjoyed providing therapy, consultation, trainings and supervision across New York State. Most enjoyable was sponsoring regional, national and internationally renowned experts specializing in Solution Based Therapy, Trauma, Chemical Dependency and Clinical Hypnosis.

Frank was most involved with the International Boxing Hall of Fame, Canastota, NY. He was an avid collector of boxing memorabilia and loved participating in the Parade of Champions that precedes the annual induction ceremony. Frank would drive one of the boxers sitting on the back of his convertible through the Village of Canastota as hundreds of fans cheered them on.

In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by his daughter Christie Bonomo Gose and grandson Tyler Talbot.  Frank was predeceased by his brother Anthony Bonomo.

Contributions in Frank’s memory may be sent to “Friends of Second Chance”, 6660 E. Seneca Turnpike, Jamesville, NY 13078. Second Chance is a program that pairs incarcerated inmates at Jamesville Correctional Facility with dogs rescued off the streets of Syracuse for mutual rehabilitation.
