June 19, 1947 — March 27, 2021

Robin Lee May, age 73, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 27, 2021 at Freedom Village, West Brandywine, PA after a long struggle with painful rheumatoid arthritis.

Born in Rockville Center, NY she was the daughter of the late Alan May and the late Joan Schiele May.

Robin graduated from Hofstra University where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history.  She taught art history in New York and Pennsylvania and gave many fascinating lectures on art through the ages. Robin also worked for the Arthritis Foundation for several years, teaching doctors about understanding the perspective of patients and advising people living with this disease. Robin wrote a popular “self-help” article each month advising people how to navigate daily living with arthritis that appeared in several publications.

Robin enjoyed her many travels to Italy when she was able.  She loved reading and her book collection and her music and CD collection.  Robin was an avid movie fan and a member of the movie selection committee at Freedom Village. She was a fierce connector who actively maintained many friendships with friends from her childhood through adulthood including her current neighbors at Freedom Village.

She is survived by her sister Loren May Pearson and Robert Pearson of Unionville, PA; two nephews, Lee Pearson of West Chester, PA and Devon Pearson of Philadelphia, PA.; grandniece, Alexandra Pearson and grandnephew, Theodore Pearson.

Services and interment for Robin will be held privately at the Memorial Garden at The Episcopal Church of the Advent in Kennett Square, PA.
