Thomas Walsh

Thomas A. Walsh, 94, of West Grove, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Ruston Residence at Jenner’s Pond.  He was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Kinsella) Walsh who passed away only 5 weeks before him and with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.  Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Walsh.

Tom will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Carmen) Giannantonio of Kennett Square, PA, Donna (Barry) Francisco of Sea Isle City, NJ, and Susan (John) Winiarski of West Grove, PA.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Greg, Julianna, Andrew, Chrissy, Jimmy and Megan.

Before moving to West Grove in 2016 to be closer to family, Tom and Joan lived in Glenolden, PA for over 56 years.  He was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Norwood, PA and more recently, at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in West Grove, PA.

He was an Army veteran who proudly served as a radio operator during the Korean War.  After his service to our country, he had a 40 year career as an accountant for the Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail). After retirement, he volunteered his time and talents at the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Tom’s greatest gift to his family was his endless love, support and commitment. He enjoyed traveling with Joan, spending time with family and friends, painting, gardening, singing, dancing, and performing in local theater. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humor, positive outlook on life, amazing memory, generosity, and always being the life of the party.

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the lives of Thomas and Joan Walsh will be held at 11:15 AM on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 300 State Road, West Grove, PA. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Church prior to Mass from 10:30 until 11:15 AM.   Internment will be held privately at a later date.

The family wishes to thank staff members at Jenner’s Pond and Willow Tree Hospice for the  kind, compassionate, and gentle care given to Thomas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory to either the Jenner’s Pond Endowment Fund, 2000 Greenbrier Road, West Grove, PA 19390 or the Willow Tree Hospice, 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
